“I've
done numerous European bike trips including Sicily and Greece but nothing
could quite prepare me for the excitement and exhilaration of the Annual
Across Ireland motorcycle fun run to Galway. Arriving at the departure point
in Dublin's Dawson street was a surreal experience with hundreds of parked up
bikes taking up the length of the road. The atmosphere among participants was
friendly and jovial. We left Dawson Street with the roar of revving engines
and the din of a multitude of beeping horns. The cavalcade was escorted along
the way by police motorcyclists and marshals who did a great job of keeping
everybody moving. We stopped at the mid-way point of a garage off the main
Athlone by-pass for fuel, snacks and...”

Susan O’Dwyer - Speaking on behalf of Make-A-Wish® Ireland
“Make-A-Wish
Ireland would like to thank Nicky Carvin and his whole team for organising such a magnificent
event in 2007. The amount of work that goes into an event like this is phenomenal, even more
so when you consider that it is all voluntary. Every single cent raised goes to Make-A-Wish,
everything is sponsored. What is amazing is that the bikers not only raise money, give of their
time but they also pay for all accommodation and meals out of their own pocket. The generosity of
all concerned is very much appreciated.
We would like to thank the sponsors, AXA Insurance, AON Bike Care, Bridgestone Ireland,
Eddie Rockets, Greenclean, Thunder Road Café, East Coast Commercials and O’Kelly Mobility
all of whom have given such wonderful support.
We were delighted when we were chosen for 2008 and we are thoroughly
looking forward to working with the team for this year’s event.

Tim O'Dea - Corporate Development
Manager - Barretstown:
“Now
that the dust has settled (quite literally) after the run,
I wanted to send you a brief note on behalf of all of us here
to express our gratitude to you and the rest of the organising
committee for having Barretstown as your chosen charity for
this year’s run. The run itself was hugely impressive
and the smooth running is a testament to the attention to
detail and planning that went in to it. On a personal level,
I enjoyed the weekend and the Barretstown volunteers with
me also had a great time.”
“The
two buses the run purchased for us from last years event have
been a great boost to the camp this summer and have been well
used and appreciated. They have quickly become an essential
part of our programme. Whatever can be provided this year
will be equally appreciated. Again, we thank you not only
for the money raised but also for the huge awareness the event
raises – it’s not every day you have 500 bikes
going across the country."
